Blondel - The Amazing Elsie Emerald

The new Blondel album is with the record company and the artwork is just being tweaked! The title of the album has been decided on and its ‘Blondel - The Amazing Elsie Emerald' - the meaning of which will become clearer once you see the album sleeve! The booklet for the CD includes all the song lyrics and some new photos of Eddie and Terry. Featuring several guests, Terry mentioned to me that they are hoping for a July release although this is now down to Talking Elephant. As soon as we have a definite release date we’ll let you know!

Due to the ever fussy nature of everyone involved in the album, various mixes have been flying to and fro to make sure it’s ‘just right’. The mix is done and the album artwork ready now so it’s off to the record company to let them have a listen and get it ready for release.

Terry has finished recording his parts for the new album and its down to the final mixing. I have a rough mix of the album and it’s sounding great!

Eddie and I paid a visit to Terrys a few days ago to listen to the tracks. This was Eddies first listen to the tracks for a few weeks and all was sounding good. The mixing is now taking place and final work on the CD layout and track orders is in hand. Once all are happy, it will be shipped off to Talking Elephant and a release date with then be set! Not long now........

Yesterday I visited Terry to see how the mixes on the tracks were going, and I filmed a couple of snippets on my iPhone to give an idea of how they’re coming along.

Terry is just putting the finishing touches to the new Blondel album! - The last backing vocals and instrument tweaks!

From today we are offering Eddie Baird albums which have been unavailable for a while as digital downloads to purchase. Our site smallcogmusic.co.uk, as well as incorporating Eds old website, also has a shop allowing you to purchase and download ‘Also.....’, ‘Abbey Cottage' and ‘Compilation’, as well as his collaborations ‘Space to Hula' and ‘Bare Facts’. Also of interest is a collection of tracks recorded at Sawmills Studios in 1977 which includes solo tracks later re-recorded and made available in different versions on various releases. Most of these versions included have never been heard before! We have also included some unseen images on the site from the period of each album. Please have a visit!

Happy New Year! After a quiet xmas, Terry is back to work on the arrangements for the new album, currently called ‘Sunshine and Showers' unless they change their mind!, while Ed is working on an instrumental which may also find its way onto the album. A release date has not yet been announced but hopefully not too far into the New Year!

After a break of a few weeks for various illnesses - luckily none serious!, work has started again on the new Blondel tracks!. Terry has been very busy working on the arrangements for several of the new tracks and they are sounding great!. Ed, recovering from from a chesty cough recorded the backing guitars and a guide vocal for a new track today - the 10th track to be started. With this in the can, we rushed over to Terrys to hear the work he's been doing! - Along with some great arrangements, a couple of the tracks feature guest backing vocals from Terrys daughter Claire. I will shortly be adding some video from tonights listening session!

A busy day on Wednesday! - Touching up some vocals with Ed on Rabbits album before heading over to Terrys in the evening to work on more Blondel tracks! Terry has done some great arrangements including one track which brings back memories of the very first Blondel album and traces of ‘Bethel Town Mission’!! On another new track there was an opening for some tasty bottleneck guitar, of course provided by Mr Baird. Luckily I brought my Paisley Tele and a bottleneck!!

After a few holiday breaks for Terry and Ed in various places, the recording continues! Ed is still writing furiously and another track has arrived for recording. As usual, the backing track - Guitar, lead and lots of harmony vocals are recorded and then the track taken to Terry for him to work his magic on!

According to the japanese HMV website www.hmv.co.jp, the Japanese Limited Edition versions of the 4 Blondel albums were released on 29th July. They include at least one bonus track on each (although we supplied 2 for each!) and come in a paper jacket!

Yesterday Ed started another great track destined for the Blondel album, recording guitars and vocals ready to be taken to Terrys to be worked on. This track brings the total to 7 so far in progress with some more nearly ready to be be laid down!

With 2 more tracks for Terry to work on, we visited yesterday - Ed laying down some Mandola parts on a couple of the tracks while Terry worked on vocal parts and instrumentation.

Ed has been round to record another couple of new tracks and Terry has already started work on them! - With another new track nearly ready to record, the sessions are proving very productive!

Another busy recording session at the studio this evening as Terry and Ed worked out some parts for the songs so far recorded. The mandola was present for these recordings with Ed trying out a few melodies on this and guitar while Terry worked on keyboard parts.

Yesterday Ed recorded the guitar and guide vocals for a new track he has written called ‘Cool Margharita’ which will hopefully be included on the new Blondel album.

Recording has started for the new Blondel album! - Terry and Ed met at Terrys studio tonight to work on 3 new tracks, penned by Eddie. The demo guitar and vocal parts recorded last week elsewhere were transferred to Terrys so they can be worked on over the next few weeks. While Terry conjures up some ideas prior to Eds next visit,
